Open position: Site Manager

Location: Stockholm

For one of our infrastructure projects in Stockholm, Sweden, we are looking for a Site Manager. As a Site Manager, you are responsible for leading the planning, coordination, and execution of work on-site, ensuring that both short-term and long-term schedules are met. You oversee resource allocation, material management, and compliance with safety, environmental, quality, and productivity standards. A key part of your role involves monitoring progress against project schedules and budgets, identifying deviations, and proposing corrective actions to ensure efficient project execution. You will collaborate with subcontractors and stakeholders, addressing construction methods, progress, and resource challenges while supporting the Production Manager in achieving project objectives. This position equals Platschef in a small project or Blockchef in a large project.

As a manager at Itinera you are expected to demonstrate good teamwork and to maintain a high level of leadership. You lead and develop your team in an engaging and inspiring manner, in alignment with the company’s goals and values. You set a good example and exercise a high level of judgment in all situations. You are responsible for ensuring that laws, agreements, and internal goals are followed within Itinera and have a specific responsibility for the information and compliance within your immediate team.

Cooperates with

Internally: Production Manager, site engineers, project management team, and site personnel.

Externally: Subcontractors, suppliers, clients, and other stakeholders.

Specific Tasks and Duties

  • Lead the planning and coordination of production activities on-site to ensure project schedules and budgets are met.
  • Monitor and analyse work progress, identifying deviations and proposing corrective actions as needed.
  • Decide on the choice of method for execution.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards throughout all phases of the project.
  • Oversee resource allocation and material management within your work area to optimize project efficiency.
  • Attend meetings with subcontractors and stakeholders to discuss construction methods, progress, quality, safety, and resource concerns.
  • Motivate and encourage workers to identify and report hazardous conditions while ensuring proper documentation and reporting processes.
  • Support the Production Manager by verifying project progress against established schedules and budgets.
  • Manage procurement, ensuring timely and cost-effective acquisition of materials and subcontractor services.
  • Prepare and coordinate modifications or additional work in consultation with project management.
  • Supervise and coordinate site personnel, ensuring tasks are aligned with project goals and completed efficiently.

Work Environment / Workplace

The role is primarily site-based, requiring hands-on leadership in dynamic and challenging construction environments. The Site Manager will frequently collaborate with internal and external teams, attend progress meetings, and conduct on-site inspections. Flexibility, adaptability, and strong communication are essential for success in this fast-paced role.

Competency Requirements

Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field, or equivalent qualifications as determined by the company.

Experience: Minimum of 7-8 years of experience in site management or a similar role within the construction industry.
